
Stingrays Close Preseason Schedule Tonight against Road Warriors

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 22 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry, close the 2014 preseason tonight against the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:05 at the Carolina Ice Palace in North Charleston. The Stingrays hold a 1-1-1-2 all-time preseason record against the Road Warriors.
Preseason History:
Road Warriors took down the Stingrays 5-4 in the shootout in preseason action last season at the Carolina Ice Palace. The Stingrays' lone preseason victory against their in-state rivals came on October 8, 2012 in a 3-2 overtime decision at the Ice Palace.
Breaking Down the Action:
The Stingrays opened the preseason last night with a 2-1 victory over the Gwinnett Gladiators in Alpharetta, Georgia. The Gladiators opened the scoring, but the Stingrays responded with two late third-period goals including the game-winning marker with 32.7 seconds remaining. Forward Jack Downing recorded a goal and an assist in the win.
Regular-Season Series at a Glance:
The Stingrays and Road Warriors collide 14 times during the 2014-15 campaign, the second most common opponent this season. Last season, the Stingrays took a 9-5-0-2 head-to-head record against the Road Warriors and stand 29-23-11 all-time.
Looking Back:
Forward Peter Boyd led the Stingrays against the Road Warriors with 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) over 14 games. Goaltender Jeff Jakaitis registered a 6-3-0-1 record with a 2.38 goals-against average and .920 save percentage.

The Stingrays kick off the 2014-15 season on Friday, October 17 against the Florida Everblades at 7:30 p.m. at Germain Arena in Estero, Florida and continue a season-opening three-game road trip the following evening, Saturday, October 18, against the Everblades at 7:00.
