Boise, Idaho - The Utah Grizzlies defeated the Idaho Steelheads 3-1 in preseason action Friday at CenturyLink Arena.

Anaheim Ducks prospect Etienne Marcoux stopped the first 37 shots that he saw and carried a shutout into the final minutes of the game before Idaho scored with an extra-attacker to make the contest 2-1 late.

Returnees Michael Pelech and Mathieu Aubin raced a puck down with 11 seconds left to give the Grizzlies their two-goal lead back.

Utah's first two goals came on a major power-play as they scored with 27 seconds left in the first and 47 seconds into the second period.

T.J. Syner who rejoins Tim Branham for 2014-2015, after winning a championship with him in Reading in 2012-2013, scored Utah's first goal from the front of the net to give Utah a 1-0 lead. Kevin Lind and Sean Jones drew assists.

Utah came out buzzing as the power-play resumed in the second period and quickly moved the puck around. Barry Almeida fed Vinny Scarsella with a beautiful backdoor pass to make it 2-0 as the Grizzlies fifth leading scorer in 2013-2014 found the back of the net.

Utah went 2-5 on the power-play and 6-6 on the penalty-kill, which ranked second in the ECHL in 2013-2014.

The Grizzlies and Steelheads continue preseason action Saturday in Logan, Utah at Eccles Ice Center at 7 p.m.
