Game Preview:

Tonight will be the second preseason test for both the Kalamazoo Wings and the Toledo Walleye. Yesterday Toledo erased an early two-goal deficit to defeat Kalamazoo 4-2 at the Huntington Center. Last season, the K-Wings went 8-4-1-0 in the regular season versus their division rivals.

Starting strong, the K-Wings scored two goals in the first five minutes in last night's game. This evening is the middle game of a three-game preseason schedule for the K-Wings. Kalamazoo will conclude the preseason Monday night in Fort Wayne against the Komets.

Anchored by stellar special teams, Toledo was able to earn a victory in Derek LaLonde's Walleye coaching debut. The Walleye went 2-for-4 on the power-play last night, which included the eventual game-winning goal scored by Marek Tvrdon.

Lone Home Game While tonight is the middle of three preseason games for the K-Wings; it is their only appearance at home. To celebrate the new season the K-Wings, for the first-time ever, are offering a preseason game with free admission.

It Doesn't Happen Often

This evening is just the second time in the K-Wings 41-year history that they played a home game at Wings West and the fourth time overall they have played a home game outside of Wings Stadium. The first-time they played outside of Wings Stadium was back in 2001, when the K-Wings played the first-ever Pink Ice Game in The Annex; for the past three seasons the K-Wings have played at least one preseason game at either Wings West for The Annex.

Solid Start Defenseman James Isaacs figured in both of the K-Wings goals last night. Isaacs scored the team's first goal of the preseason with a slap shot from the blue line and then moments later earned an assist on the K-Wings final goal.

Roster Moves Forward Josh Brittain joined the team this afternoon following his AHL tryout with the Springfield Falcons. Kalamazoo also released forwards Justin DeMartino, Colin Hekle, Alex Szczechura and goaltender Larkin Saalfrank.
