Ontario Reign News Release

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (40-18-4-6), four-time ECHL Pacific Division Champions and proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's 2014 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, gained a point in their 3-2 shootout loss to the Bakersfield Condors (25-36-3-5) in front of a crowd of 8,317 on Friday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

After a scoreless first period, Bakersfield struck first when Connor Leen sprang Ryan Watson for a breakaway, and the Condors forward snapped one over the glove of Jussi Olkinuora at 15:07.

Ontario tied the score when Judd Blackwater stole the puck from Maxime Lagace and fed the puck through his legs to the left side, where David Rutherford rifled the puck past the goalie at 17:56.

In the third period, the Condors went ahead when Lessard drove to the net after Josh Currie threw the puck into the slot, and Lessard jammed the puck through the legs of Olkinuora at 13:02.

The Reign tied the score late in the frame when Judd Blackwater recovered Ralfs Freibergs' rebound and shoveled the puck into the net at 18:08.

Blackwater's goal forced overtime, but neither team scored in the extra session, and so the game proceeded to the shootout.

Blackwater scored in the second round for Ontario when he tucked the puck through his legs and then brought it ahead of him before depositing a backhand shot through Lagace's legs.

Nick MacNeil scored in the fifth round, and then Cameron Abney scored in the seventh to seal the win for Bakersfield.

Olkinuora took the shootout loss with 26 saves; Lagace earned the win with 39 stops.
