Carter Rigby Turns Pro with Thunder
April 4, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Stockton Thunder News Release
Ontario, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, owned by the NHL's Calgary Flames and proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, sign forward Carter Rigby to a contract ahead of tonight's meeting with the Ontario Reign.
Rigby comes to the Thunder on the heels of a career year in the WHL that saw him start with the Kelowna Rockets but finished with the Swift Current Broncos after a midseason trade. He compiled career highs in points (46), assists (28) and penalty minutes (91) in his 62 games played with Kelowna and Swift Current during this past season as an overage player.
The 6'0", 225 lb. forward brings size and a heavy punch to the Thunder lineup as Rigby also set a career high with 91 penalty minutes this season.
The Penticton, British Columbia will make his debut tonight wearing number 55 along with Garrett Ladd wearing number 14 and Kyle Brodie sporting number 3, who both signed contracts earlier this week. Ladd and Brodie were teammates at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, finishing their collegiate careers with back-to-back appearances in the NCAA DIII National Championship Game.
The Thunder continue their road trip with a couple appearances in Bakersfield next week before returning home for the final ever Stockton Thunder home game against the Bakersfield Condors on April 11 at 7:30. Get your tickets now for the Thunder and ECHL finale at Stockton Arena by calling (209) 373-1500 or by visiting StocktonThunder.com.
