ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (24-9-1-1), defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, fell to the Alaska Aces (28-8-0-1) before 6,752 on Sunday, Jan. 6 at Citizens Business Bank Arena. This was the Reign's third game in three nights.

The Aces got on the board first with an early goal just 1:13 into the game. Reign blueliners Chris Huxley and Vincent LoVerde were caught up in a sandwich check allowing Garry Nunn to jam the puck past Chris Carrozzi off a pass from Nick Mazzolini. Just a few minutes later, the Reign answered back to tie the game 1-1. Huxley passed the puck to Brady Calla at the center of the left circle who fired it toward the Aces' cage. Mario Lamoureux picked up the loose puck and from a wide, left angle shot it past Gerald Coleman.

Neither side scored to break the tie through the second period. Only four shots were taken by both the Reign and the Aces.

The Aces regained their lead at the 2:55 mark of the third period with a goal by Chris Clackson. He and line mate Bobby Hughes had a give-and-go play straight through the Reign defense and Clackson's shot went top shelf past Carrozzi.

Three Stars:
