
Aces Earn 2-1 Win in Ontario

Chris Clackson broke a tie scored in the third period, leading Alaska to a 2-1 win over the Ontario Reign from Citizens Business Bank Arena on Sunday afternoon. The Aces are now 10-0-1 in their last 11 games and a league-best 28-8-1 record. The Aces return to Anchorage to host the Reign on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 11, and 12. Garry Nunn opened the scoring early in the game, scoring just 1:13 into the game to mark the tenth straight game where Alaska scored first. Ontario answered when Mario Lamoureux scored on a rebound at 5:27 to make it 1-1. Ontario outshot Alaska 9-7 in the period.
A scoreless second period featured just eight combined shots with each club registering four, and the game stayed 1-1 heading into the third.
Early in the third period Clackson capped off a two-on-one rush with Bobby Hughes at 2:55 for his fourth goal since being acquired by the Aces and tenth of the season. The Aces allowed just five third period shots and protected the lead to stay unbeaten in regulation for their eleventh straight win.
Gerald Coleman (13-2) earned the win, making 17 saves on 18 shots. Chris Carrozzi (13-6) made 12 saves on 14 shots in the loss. The Aces went 0-2 on the power play and the Reign were 0-2. Alaska was outshot by Ontario 18-14 in the game.
The Aces now return to Anchorage to host the Reign on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
