
Jakaitis and Langkow Lead Stingrays Past Everblades

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays (16-18-1-3) defeated the Florida Everblades (15-13-3-4) 3-2 at the North Charleston Coliseum Sunday afternoon.
Stingrays forward Robby Dee broke open the scoring at 12:28 of the first period ripping a wrist shot over the glove of Everblades goaltender John Muse (L, 16 saves on 19 shots) from the top of the right-wing circle. Former Everblade Matt Beca and defenseman Ryan Turek earned assists.
Everblades forward Brayden Irwin tied the game at 1:38 of the second period slipping a shot past Stingrays netminder Jeff Jakaitis (W, 26 saves on 28 shots). Defenseman Luka Vidmar put the Stingrays back on top with a power-play marker at 3:27 from defenseman Kevin Quick. Irwin made it even again on the man advantage at 6:09. Moments later, forward Chris Langkow buried his fourth goal in three games to put the Stingrays up for good at 15:06. Forward Tyler McNeely and defenseman Derek Foam registered assists.
In the third period, the Everblades fired 13 shots on goal to the Stingrays' four, but could not solve Jakaitis. The Stingrays finished the game 1-for-2 on the power play while the Everblades went 1-for-4.
