TONIGHT'S GAME: After splitting a four-game series with Syracuse, the Red Wings welcome the Gwinnett Braves (Atlanta) to Rochester to begin a four-game set at Frontier Field beginning tonight (7:05 pm). After a season-high eight-game losing streak (May 5-12), the Wings have rebounded to win 12 of their last 16 games and now sit just a 1/2-game back in the IL North. The Braves, meanwhile, are in second place in the IL South and are coming off a four-game series split in Pawtucket, In fact, Gwinnett has split each of their last three series.

- This series matches the top pitching club in the IL (ROC, 3.25 ERA) against the best hitting team (GWN, .270 AVG).

- Tonight's matchup features two starters who rank in the top 10 in the IL in ERA: Johnson (4th, 2.11) & Martin (10th, 2.89)

TONIGHT'S WINGS STARTER: LHP Kris Johnson makes his 9th start of the season for Rochester on Friday night -- but just his 3rd of the year at Frontier Field where he has yet to allow an ER over his first two starts (11.0 IP). Over his last 5 starts with Rochester, Johnson is 3-0 with a 1.16 ERA (4 ER/31.0 IP) and over his last 20 starts at the Triple-A level dating back to last season, is an impressive 9-3 with a 1.85 ERA (25 ER/121.1 IP) .

- In 5 career games (2 GS) against Gwinnett is 1-1 with an 8.78 ERA (13 ER/13.1 IP)...Has made one relief appearance against the G-Braves in each of the last 3 seasons allowing 8 runs in 2.1 IP.

- Over his first 4 seasons (2009-2012) in Triple-A was 16-30, 5.85 ERA (192 ER/295.1 IP) in 78 G (53 GS)...Over his last 2 seasons (2013- ), is 14-6, 2.32 ERA (47 ER/182.2 IP) over 34 G (29 GS).

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME: The Red Wings have won 12 of their last 15 games at Frontier Field and own the second-best home record in the IL this season at 18-9 (SYR, 18-8). Beginning May 27, 2013, the Wings are 49-24 (.671) over their last 73 games at Frontier Field. This season, the Wings are averaging 4.4 R/G (120 R/27 G) and are hitting .282 at home with 17 of their 26 homers coming at Frontier Field. Rochester pitchers have thrown to a 3.11 ERA at home and all 6 of the Wings' shutouts this season have come in Rochester. For comparison, the Wings are 10-15 on the road and hitting just .241 with a .335 SLG -- 71 points lower than at home.

- Last season, the Wings had the 2nd-best home winning percentage in the league (42-30; .583)

2013 SEASON SERIES NOTES vs. G-BRAVES: The Wings' 7-1 mark was their best winning percentage against any team in the IL in 2013...it was Rochester's first season series win over the Braves Triple-A farm club since 2006 (Richmond)...the Wings had been just 20-28 against the Braves top farm club over the previous six seasons (2007-12)...the Wings' series win (3-1) in Gwinnett from Jun. 4-7 was the first time since 1995 that the Red Wings won a road series against Atlanta's Triple-A affiliate...the Wings swept the G-Braves at Frontier Field in a 4-game set, Jun. 13-16 ...it was Rochester's first sweep against the Gwinnett Braves in their franchise history (2009- ) and first 4-game sweep over the Atlanta Braves Triple-A affiliate since 2006 (also in Rochester).

-Doug Bernier hit .393 (11-28) with 6 XBH and 5 RBI in 8 games against Gwinnett last season.

-Chris Colabello batted .360 (9-25) with 2 homers and 8 RBI in 7 games against the G-Braves in 2014.

-Dan Rohlfing hit .370 (10-27) with 4 XBH and 6 RBI in 7 games vs. GWN...Had walk-off hit on 6/15 vs. GWN

HOT WINGS: INF Doug Bernier has a hit in 7 of his last 9 games, batting .357 (10-for-28) with 4 runs and 4 RBI over that stretch... INF Pedro Florimon is 8-for-26 (.308) over his last 9 games after going 2-for-21 (.095) over his first 8 games with Rochester...C Eric Fryer has a hit in 6 of his last 8 starts, going 8-for-25 (.320) with 4 2B, 3B, 6 R & 4 RBI over that span...Over his last 12 games with Rochester, C/OF Chris Herrmann is 17-for-44 (.386) with HR, 3B, 3 2B and 4 RBI with 6 multi-hit games in that span...Over his last 12 games at Frontier Field, INF Deibinson Romero is 17-for-46 (.370) with 6 2B, one 3B, 3 HR, 8 runs and 12 RBI.

FOR STARTERS: If you take out Scott Diamond's starts (2-6, 7.51 ERA in 10 GS), Wings starters are 15-10 with a 2.52 ERA (62 ER/221.0 IP) this season. Four of the five Wings starters with at least 8 starts this season have an opposing batting average against of .238 or lower (Diamond, .355). If you take out Diamond's last 3 starts (13 ER in 15.2 IP), the rest of the starting rotation has pitched to a 1.15 ERA (10 ER/78.1 IP) since May 12 -- with none allowing more than 2 ER in any start over this stretch.
