Rays Trade Andricopoulos And Byfuglien To Condors

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach Jared Bednar announced today that defensemen Andrew Andricopoulos and Derrick Byfuglien have been traded to the Bakersfield Condors in exchange for center Todd Griffith and considerations. Griffith is expected to be in the line-up on Saturday in Columbia.

Griffith, 22, has skated in a total of 43 games for the Bakersfield Condors this season, recording 29 points (13g-16a) and 90 penalty minutes. The 5'11", 181-pound native of Welland, Ontario is in his second professional season after joining the Condors last year. Last season Griffith set a Condors rookie single-season record with 26 goals and was named to both the ECHL All-Rookie Team and selected to the ECHL All-Star Team. Griffith appeared in one game for the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers during the 2006-07 season, recording two penalty minutes.

Prior to becoming pro, Griffith posted 145 points (79g-66a) and 285 penalty minutes in four years of junior hockey in the OHL with the Belleville Bulls, Owen Sound Attack and Kingston Frontenacs.

Andricopolous, 20, posted six points (2g-4a) and 19 penalty minutes in 49 contests with the Stingrays while Byfuglien, 27, had four points, all assists, and 46 penalty minutes in 34 games.

The Stingrays are in action tonight at the North Charleston Coliseum as the team hosts the Dayton Bombers at 7:05 p.m. It's College Night and Food and Beverage Night.
