Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors acquired D Martin Frechette today, reassigned by the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League from the Utah Grizzlies, while LW Evan Kotsopoulos has been sent to Utah. In addition, F Alexander Naurov has been reassigned by the Iowa Stars of the AHL to the Condors. Both moves were announced by Head Coach Marty Raymond.

Frechette (fruh-SHEHT), 21, is in his rookie season in the pro ranks, under contract to the AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders. He has played in 43 games with Utah, recording 14 assists and 67 penalty minutes. The Sherbrooke, Quebec native played four seasons with Gatineau in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and had his best season last year, notching 23 goals and 73 points in 70 games. His goal total was fifth on the team and led all defensemen, and his point total was third.

"He's a solid young defenseman who's having a good year in Utah," said Raymond. "He had great numbers in the Quebec Major Junior League and we were impressed with what we saw out of him. With the injury to (defenseman) David Kudelka right now it was imperative that we went out and got another defenseman."

Kotsopoulos played in 50 games with Bakersfield this season, scoring five goals and 19 points with 107 PIM.

In his third professional season, Naurov (NAHW-rahv), 22, has skated in 40 games and has recorded seven points (1g-6a). He had the same numbers last season when he played in just 16 games with the Steelheads, and appeared in eight games in the playoffs en route to Idaho's Kelly Cup Championship. He has also played professionally in Finland and his native Russia. Naurov, a 5-foot 11- inch, 200-pound winger was drafted by Dallas in the fourth round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

"He's certainly played well against us," said Raymond. "He is a hard worker who will play on one of the top lines for us and he can really help us out down the stretch."
