Royals Ready For Fans' Choice Awards

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL today announced that the Seventh Annual Fans' Choice Awards Banquet will be held on Monday, March 31, beginning at 6 pm at the Sovereign Performing Arts Center in Reading. The black tie (optional) dinner is open to the public and costs $40 for non-season ticket holders, $35 for full season ticket holders and $25 for children under twelve. In addition to handing out the annual awards, the Royals' V&M Towing warm-up jerseys will be auctioned that night. Reservations are required and can be made by contacting Brenna Temple (610-898-7311). Space is limited, so it is recommended that reservations be made promptly.

This year the Fans' Choice Awards will include eleven categories: Top Hat & Tails Award (Avenue West Tuxedos); Offensive Player of the Year (Ned Ehrlich, Esq.); Defensive Player of the Year (V&M Towing); Unsung Hero (Freymoyer's Restaurant & Hotel); Most Valuable Player (Auto Spa of Wyomissing); Ironman (Hair on the Avenue); Rookie of the Year (The Works); Heart Award (Cardiology Associates of West Reading); Scrapper of the Year (Royal Green, LLC); Fans' Choice Award (Reading Eagle); and Community Service Award (United Way of Berks County).

The official ballot for the 2007-08 Fans' Choice Awards will be released this week in the Reading Eagle. Fans can submit their ballots at the Weidenhammer Systems Fan Appreciation Booth in the Sovereign Center during the Royals' home games on March 12 and 15. (Ballots will be available on those game nights, as well.) Fans can also submit their ballots by mailing them care of the "Reading Royals' Awards Banquet", P.O. Box 1216, Reading, PA 19603.

Reading next heads out on the road for three straight, starting on Friday night (March 7; 7:30 pm) in Cincinnati, Ohio at U.S. Bank Arena against the first place Cincinnati Cyclones. The game night broadcast that night will begin at 7:00 pm with the pre-game warm-up show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Ephrata, as well as on the internet through the Royals' website, www.royalshockey.com. Streaming video is available on a pay per view basis through the B2 Networks.
