
Rays Head To The Break With 2-1 Week, Parley Shines in Goal

South Carolina Stingrays News Release
South Carolina finished 2-1 on the week to improve their record to 15-14-10 on the season. The Rays have possession of fifth place in the South Division of the ECHL three points in front of the Augusta Lynx and six points behind the Charlotte Checkers. The Stingrays will continue on a four game road trip after the All Star Break with two games on the weekend in Florida.
The Rays took care of home ice this week with wins over Augusta 2-1 and Columbia 3-0. Davis Parley played eight of South Carolina's nine periods this week and allowed just two goals against. His record is now 4-3-0 on the season.
Brad Parsons scored in all three games this week for the Stingrays. He had the game winner on Friday against Augusta and two goals including the game winner against Columbia on Saturday. Parsons leads the Rays with 36 points on 12 goals and 24 assists.
South Carolina's has been consistently effective. The Rays have a power play which clicks at 20.8% and is ranked eighth in the ECHL. The Stingrays now have a home record of 9-7-6 and a road record of 6-7-4.
Friday, January 20th
Stingrays 2 Vs Augusta 1
Brad Parsons had the game winner in the third period and Davis Parley made 32 saves for the Stingrays in the win over Augusta in front of nearly 6,000 fans at the Coliseum.
Saturday, January 21st
Stingrays 3 Vs Columbia 0
Brad Parsons again had the game winner and another tally and Davis Parley earned his first shut out with the Stingrays making 26 saves to help the Rays to their second straight victory at home.
Sunday, January 22nd
Stingrays 2 @ Charlotte 4
Luke Stauffacher had a pair of goals for the Charlotte Checkers, who continued their dominance over the Stingrays with a 4-2 win over the visitors at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. The Checkers now have a 7-0 record against the Stingrays on the season as the Rays slipped to 0-5-2 against Charlotte.
