McKenna signs with AHL's Norfolk Admirals

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today that goaltender Mike McKenna has signed a 25-game player tryout contract with the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League. The team also announced that left wing Marco Peluso was named to the National Conference All-Star Team.

McKenna was recently named to the National Conference All-Star Team and named as the ECHL Rookie of the Month for the month of December. The rookie netminder is 12-1-1 this season with a 2.27 goals against average and a .918 save percentage in 17 appearances with Las Vegas this year. After losing his first start of the season in November, McKenna posted a ten-game unbeaten in regulation streak (9-0-1). McKenna participated in the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights training camp in 2005. The 22-year old was selected by the Nashville Predators in the Sixth Round (#172 Overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. McKenna played four seasons at St. Lawrence University going 32-44-8 with a 2.85 goals against average and a .906 save percentage.

Peluso is enjoying his first full professional season after playing the final 12 games of the Wranglers 2004-05 season. The Bovey, MN native has six goals and 12 assists for 18 points in 28 games played. Peluso's 53 penalty minutes rank him seventh best on the Wranglers and his 81 shots are fifth highest on the team. Peluso played the previous four seasons at the University of Minnesota Duluth with 37 goals and 51 assists for 88 points in 114 games played.

McKenna becomes the ninth member of the Wranglers to get recalled to the American Hockey League this season. Las Vegas will play at Bank of America Centre Center in Boise, ID on Friday night at 6:10 pm (PST).

Las Vegas continues their seven-game road trip after the All-Star Game, with stops in Idaho, Long Beach, and Bakersfield. Las Vegas will return to home ice on Tuesday, February 7th in a showdown with Alaska. After stops in Phoenix and San Diego next Thursday and Friday, the team enters the All-Star break. The All-Star Skills Competition is scheduled for Tuesday, January 24th at 7:00 pm at Save Mart Center in Fresno, CA. The 2006 ECHL All-Star Game presented by Bud Light, will take place Wednesday, January 25th at 7:00 pm at Save Mart Center in Fresno, CA.
