Gladiators Weekly Update
January 22, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release
Don't Shoot! The Gladiators held Columbia to an ECHL season low 13 shots in Monday's 6-2 win over the Inferno. If the Gladiators would have held Columbia to 4 fewer shots, Gwinnett would have tied an ECHL record for fewest shots allowed in an ECHL game at 9 in a game. The record of 9 in a game is currently shared by the Arkansas Riverblades and Bakersfield Condors who both accomplished the feat.
Back From Chicago! Goaltender Tuomas Tarkki was assigned to the Gladiators from the Chicago Wolves on Thursday. He made a season high 38 saves for Gwinnett in the Gladiators 6-0 loss to Greenville in his first game back with Gwinnett. The netminder followed that up with a 32 save performance on Saturday night in his first win with Gwinnett in a 4-3 victory at Pensacola. Tarkki is now 1-2-1 with the Gladiators.
A Replacement: Forward Jeff Campbell will be making his second consecutive trip to an ECHL All Star Game as he was selected to replace teammate Pascal Pelletier on the American Conference Squad. Pelletier is being replaced because he remains on recall with the Providence Bruins of the AHL. Campbell posted an assist in last season's game for the American Conference in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Back to Atlanta: Mike Dunham returned to the Atlanta Thrashers following his conditioning assignment with a perfect 2-0-0 record after making 11 saves in Monday's 6-2 win over Columbia. In two games with Gwinnett, Dunham saw just 36 shots while posting a 2.50 goals against average.
Four for Gajic: Milan Gajic posted his fourth, 3-point night for the Gladiators in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Pensacola Ice Pilots. Gajic had a goal and 2 assists for Gwinnett in the win. Gajic now shares first on the Gladiators for most 3-point games joining Pascal Pelletier, who is currently on recall to Providence of the American Hockey League, at four this season.
Gone to the AHL! Goaltender Sean Fields was called up to the Providence Bruins of the AHL on Thursday. He made a relief appearance for the Bruins in Saturday's 6-2 loss to Hartford. He gave up 3 goals in 38:33 of work in his first AHL appearance and did not record a decision in the game. Springfield is at Providence Sunday at 4 p.m.

Gajic gave Gwinnett a 2-1 lead in the second but the Ice Pilots scored before the end of the period to tie the game at 2-2. Kelman's second goal of the game gave the Gladiators a 3-2 lead while Steve Slaton scored the game winner on the power play at 8:07 of the third period.
