Colorado Rapids News Release
The Colorado Rapids (3-2-0, 9 points, 7th West) will wrap up their three-match road stint with an inter-conference clash with Toronto FC (2-2-1, 7 points, 7th East) on Saturday, April 4. Kickoff at BMO Field is set for 11:00 a.m. MT, with coverage available on Apple TV, Altitude Sports Radio, Tico Sports Spanish Radio, ColoradoRapids.com, and the Colorado Rapids app.
Despite Colorado not having an MLS match last weekend, the club saw numerous players represent their nations at the international level last week. At the senior national team level, defender Lucas Herrington received his first call-up to the Australian Men's national team, eventually making his debut against Cameroon by starting the match and playing a full 90 minutes. Herrington also started and played all 90 minutes in Australia's second match of the window to cap off his first call up to the Socceroos.
Additionally making appearances internationally last week were Homegrown forward Darren Yapi and defender Noah Cobb, who both featured for the U.S. U-21 group during their two matches against Japan and Korea Republic. Against Japan, both players started with Yapi recording a goal and Cobb anchoring the back line to help post a 2-0 clean sheet victory.
Following the FIFA international window, the Rapids have their eyes set on a second consecutive victory this weekend following their dominant 4-1 victory over Sporting KC two weeks ago. Paxten Aaronson's first career brace paired with a three-goal contribution night from Rafael Navarro helped Colorado cruise to their first road win of the season. The duo's strong performances earned them both a spot on MLS' Team of the Matchweek, with Aaronson earning the honor for the first time this year and Navarro getting the nod for the second time in 2026.
On the other end of Saturday's contest is a Toronto side that has struggled to find their footing as of late but showed signs of success in their most recent match. The club hosted Columbus on March 21 and conceded early but fought back with two unanswered goals of their own to take all three points at home.
Colorado enters the match with several connections to Toronto FC. Head coach Robin Fraser previously led the Rapids from 2019-2023 and represented the club as a player. Midfielder Djordje Mihailovic joined Colorado ahead of the 2024 season following his time in Europe and MLS. Former Rapids goalkeeper William Yarbrough, who began his tenure on loan before becoming the club's all-time shutout leader, is the only one among the group to have faced Colorado since departing. Additional ties include assistant coach Wolde Harris, former Rapids defender Steven Beitashour, and assistant coaches Neil Emblen and Jase Kim, who each spent time within the organization.
