Rangers Downed by Windsor

December 11, 2021 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Kitchener Rangers News Release

The Kitchener Rangers headed down highway 401 to take on The Windsor Spitfires on Saturday evening for the Spits Teddy Bear Toss Game.

The first saw lots of back and forth action, with good chances for both teams, but through 20 minutes of play, the game was still scoreless. Pavel Cajan continued to shine and made some stellar saves in the period.

The second period continued with lots of back and forth action and both teams hitting goalposts before Cameron Mercer capitalizes on the power play and gives The Rangers the lead (assisted by Mitchell Martin and Francesco Pinelli). The Rangers would end period 2 with the 1-0 lead over Windsor.

Windsor scores early in the third to tie the game and let the fur fly. Then shortly after the delay, Wyatt Johnston adds another one for Windsor to give them the 2-1 lead. Matthew Andonovski goes hard into the boards, and The Rangers end the period on the powerplay. A hard-fought battle, but the Blueshirts can't get the win.

Our next game is on Wednesday, December 15th as The Rangers head to Owen Sound.

Our next home game is Friday, December 17th vs. The Soo Greyhounds at 7:30pm. Be sure to wear your favourite holiday sweater - as we celebrate the season at The Aud. Tickets are available.
