OHL Ottawa 67's

Barber Poles Fall to Bulldogs

December 11, 2021 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Ottawa 67's News Release

The Ottawa 67's dropped an 8-3 decision to the Hamilton Bulldogs, on Saturday afternoon. Ottawa was powered, offensively, by Vinzenz Rohrer's eighth of the season, the first of Brad Gardiner's OHL career, and Luca Pinelli's second of the campaign.

Hamilton opened the scoring at the 10:07 mark of the first, with Cole Brown's third of the year. The 67's got it right back, though, with Rohrer potting a Jack Matier rebound on the powerplay, posted up at the lip of the Hamilton crease.

Ottawa went into the second period in a 1-1 tie, and leading the shots on goal totals 11-7, but the Bulldogs ended the frame with five goals; from Avery Hayes (two), Lawson Sherk, Gavin White, and Logan Morrison, respectively.

Lucas Moore added another for Hamilton early in the third, but at the 9:23 mark, Gardiner took a pass from Steve Laforme out in front, and snapped a quick shot past Matteo Drobac, for the first of his career.

George Diaco would restore Hamilton's six-goal lead, but a little over a minute later, Pinelli tallied his second after some great puck movement from Matier and Alec Belanger.

Despite a strong third, the Barber Poles found themselves on the wrong end of an 8-3 score.

Game Notes:

Vinzenz Rohrer extended his point streak to four games.

Jack Matier ended the night with two assists.

Alec Belanger has points in consecutive games.

Both of Luca Pinelli's goals, this season, have come against the Bulldogs.

Up Next: The 67's visit the Peterborough Petes, Thursday night, in a 7:05pm EST puck drop.
