San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage continued to do what they've done best this season-win at home-as they extracted a 3-2 victory over the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights with a power-play goal by Jeff Taffe 1:14 into the extra frame Thursday night at the AT&T Center. The win is the seventh at home for the Rampage this season, already half-way to the 14 total home wins from a year ago, and their fifth in last six.

The Rampage (8-13-0-0) continue to show that despite their struggles on the road, where the Rampage are 1-8-0-0, this young team knows how to win at home, and can come up with clutch goals and solid goaltending when it's needed most.

The Rampage got on the board first with a goal just 5:16 into the first period by rookie Bill Thomas, his sixth on the season, to give the Rampage a 1-0 lead that they would hold for the remainder of the period. The goal was assisted by Tyler Redenbach (6) and Bryan Helmer (3).

The Rampage came out in the second period flat, registering just three shots on goal the entire period, allowing Omaha to score a pair of goals to steal the lead.

Tomi Maki got the Knights on the board just 3:12 into the second period; the goal was his first of the season. Later in the period, the Knights took the lead on a deflection by Ryan Donally they snuck five hole on Rampage goaltender Josh Tordjman, giving him his second goal of the year, at the 12:15 mark to put the Knights ahead 2-1.

Despite allowing the two goals, the night once again belonged to the young Tordjman, who basically carried the Rampage on his shoulders. Tordjman, who is now 3-3 with the club since being called up, kept the Rampage within striking distance all night with one spectacular save after another, as he helped the Rampage hold the Knights scoreless on the power play in ten chances.

With Tordjman keeping the game close through the second, Rampage's Don MacLean started the third period notching a power-play goal, his fifth goal of the season, 40 seconds into the frame to tie the game.

Tordjman held the reins for the remainder of the period and into overtime, eventually holding off 31 of 33 shots faced, as Jeff Taffe scored the team's second power-play goal of the night. The goal gave the Rampage the first game of this back-to-back set with the Knights, and proved that even while down; this young team will not give up.

The Knights (12-8-1-0) have now lost four in a row heading into tomorrow night's game against the Rampage at the AT&T Center with a 7 p.m. start time. Following Friday's game, the Rampage travel to Chicago to face the first-place Wolves (15-6-1-0) on Saturday evening, completing a three-games-in-three-night stint.
