Murphy, in his fourth season with the Aeros, ranks first among defensemen in team history in goals (52), assists (127) and points (179). His 262 games played are second most among Aeros' blueliners. Murphy has won the Eddie Shore Trophy as the top AHL defenseman twice - just the fourth player in history to accomplish the feat. He's also just the seventh blueliner in AHL history to earn three First Team All-AHL honors. Murphy is a three-time champion at the pro level, including his Calder Cup titles with Houston in 2003 and Milwaukee in 2004. Murphy, named the Aeros' "Man of the Year" in 2005-06 for his charitable efforts, has missed just one game since the beginning of the 2001-02 season.

Murphy has passed several milestones already in 2006-07, including his 600th professional game, 500th penalty minute and 400th point, which was an assist on Matt Foy's third-period, game-winning goal against San Antonio on November 24.
