San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - An aggressive team effort by the San Antonio Rampage gave them the 4-3 victory over the Toronto Marlies at the AT&T Center Saturday night. The Rampage grabbed their second consecutive win, fourth of the season, and now have eight points with a 4-8-0-0 record.

Rookies Daniel Winnik and Ryan Garlock each tallied a goal in the opening period to give the Rampage a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission. Winnik's shot deflected off of Marlies' goaltender Justin Pogge into the net for San Antonio's initial goal. Winnik had help from veteran Pascal Rheaume and fellow rookie Logan Stephenson at the 4:14 mark. Two minutes later, Toronto defenseman Michael Schutte put one past Philippe Sauve for their only power-play goal of the night. With nine minutes left in the period, Garlock stationed himself at the right post to knock in a pass from Randall Gelech for San Antonio's second goal.

Less than two minutes into the second period, Tyson Nash helped Joe Callahan's shot from the slot into the net for the Rampage's first of two power-play goals. After four minutes had elapsed into the period, Toronto pinned up back-to-back goals just 25 seconds apart from Brett Engelhardt and Kris Newbury to tie the game 3-3. With 42 seconds left in the second period, assists from Yanick Lehoux and Keith Yandle connected with Jeff Taffe at the wall for a top shelf goal which proved to be the game winner.

The Rampage posted a season-high 40 shots to the Marlies' 23. Toronto scored on two of their three shots during the second period and reached a new season-low for shots on goal in a single period.

The Rampage go on a tour through the northeast for their next three games with stops in Manchester, Worcester and Hartford before heading back to Texas with a home-and-home series against the Houston Aeros on November 17 and 18.
