Albany Devils News Release
Binghamton, NY - Jordan Parise made 44 saves in leading the Lowell Devils (4-4-0-1) to a 2-1 victory over the Binghamton Senators (3-6-0-2) at the Broome County Arena on Saturday night.
The Devils went with Jordan Parise between the pipes for his second career professional start, and the rookie was busy in the first period. Called upon to stop 18 first period shots, his play helped Lowell grab the 1-0 lead. Aaron Voros redirected a point shot from Brian Miller, past G Kelly Guard for his first of the season at 15:47 of the opening period.
Chris Minard put the Devils up by two early in the second period. On just the seventh shot of the game for Lowell, Minard buried a centering feed by Justin Papineau from between the circles for his first of the season at 2:57. Outshot 18-5 in the first, the Devils bounced back in the second, keeping shots even at 10-10, while taking the lead into the third frame.
The Senators got on the board in the third with Minard in the box for goaltender interference. Serge Payer notched his second of the season 3:36 into the period to cut the lead in half. But it's as close as they would get. With the Devils shorthanded in the final minutes, Binghamton pulled Guard for an extra attacker, and Rod Pelley sent a backhander the length of the ice for the shorthanded tally to make it 3-1. A late Senators goal just before the final buzzer brought the final to 3-2, but Parise was the star of the night, making 44 saves in picking up his first career win.
The Devils return to home ice to host the Springfield Falcons on Sunday, November 5th. Game time is 4:05 p.m. Sunday's game is Movie Trivia Night, giving everyone in attendance the chance to walk away with movie prizes by testing their Hollywood I.Q. After the game, there will be a post-game public skate, free to everyone in attendance, sponsored by Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union. A limited number of skates will also be available, free of charge, or fans may bring their own skates to the game.
