San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO - Goaltender David LeNeveu was perfect in the shootout giving the San Antonio Rampage their third shootout win this season Thursday night at the SBC Center as they defeated the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights 3-2. LeNeveu stopped 28 shots in his home debut with the Rampage and tallied his second win in his last three games with the Phoenix Coyotes AHL affiliate.
Center Mike Bishai scored the team's lone shootout goal to lift Rampage to their third consecutive win over Omaha. The Rampage have outscored the Knights 10-4 over the last three games.
Martin Sonnenberg gave the Rampage the lead on a four-on-three power-play at 14:13 in the opening period. Krys Kolanos made his Rampage debut with an assist on Sonnenberg's goal and David Cornacchia tallied his fifth of the season.
Omaha fought back as Knights' forward Lynn Loyns tied it up 1-1 in the second period at the 8:57 mark and Omaha's Cam Severson got things rolling quickly in the third period with a goal a little over a minute into play. Mark Giordano tallied his 19th and 20th assists on both of the Knights' goals.
Rampage defenseman David Cornacchia's backhanded shot at 6:17 in the closing period proved to be the game-tying goal and his first multiple-point night.
After a scoreless four-on-four overtime, the Rampage defense kept Omaha shotless to their three attempts.
Both LeNeveu and Brent Krahn defended their nets well, keeping their opponents at bay through the first four shooters of the first round. Kolanos was first up for the Rampage and was close with his shot hitting off the right goal post. Bishai's shot gave the Rampage their 11th win on the season.
The Rampage (11-18-0-1) begin a five-game in six-night stretch from Dec. 26-31.
