April 7, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (April 7, 2014) - The San Antonio Rampage's 11th annual Military Appreciation Night, presented by Champion AC, will now take place on Saturday, April 12 as the Silver and Black host the Texas Stars at 7 p.m. Military Appreciation Night was originally scheduled for March 1, but the game was suspended due to ice conditions.
The night is an opportunity for the Rampage to honor the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country in the Armed Forces. Military service members, including veterans, can receive a special 50 percent discount on tickets purchased online at sarampage.com and on game day from the AT&T Center Box Office when they show a valid Military ID.
The team will once again wear military-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off in a post-game jersey auction, presented by GovX, to benefit Operation Comfort and the Rampage Sled Hockey Team. The Rampage have raised more than $200,000 to benefit San Antonio's military community in the past 10 years.
The Rampage Sled Hockey Team, which was formed in 2007, is made up of wounded military service members and features three players who helped capture the gold medal for the United States in the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. Josh Sweeney, who served as an alternate captain for the U.S. Team, scored the lone goal in the U.S.'s 1-0 win over Russia in the gold medal game. Rampage Sled Hockey goalie Jen Lee and forward Rico Roman also competed in Sochi.
The Rampage Sled Hockey Team is run by Operation Comfort, a nonprofit organization that works with wounded service members who are recovering at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, Texas.
Additional activities for Military Appreciation Night will take place prior to the game in the Bud Light Courtyard, including a chance for fans to see if they have what it takes on a pull-up bar and at a pushup station. Grammy Award-winning band Los Texmaniacs will perform live in the Bud Light Courtyard prior to the game and during both intermissions.
Tickets for Military Appreciation and all remaining Rampage home games, start at $10 and can be purchased at the AT&T Center Southeast Box Office, online at sarampage.com or by calling a Rampage representative at 210-444-5554.
