LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

vs. Hartford (4/4): Goaltender David LeNeveu stopped all 37 shots he faced as the Manchester Monarchs were shutout, 2-0, by the Hartford Wolf Pack at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday evening. Right wing Danny Kristo and defenseman Aaron Johnson each registered one goal for the Wolf Pack. Monarchs netminder J.F. Berube (26-16-2) took his 16th loss of the season, stopping 14-of-16 shots. LeNeveu (7-8-0) tallied his seventh win of the season, stopping all 37 shots he faced. Manchester was 0-for-5 on the power play. Hartford went 1-for-3 on the man advantage.

vs. Portland (4/5): Center Jordan Weal collected his first professional hat trick to help the Monarchs claim their first VIP Cup trophy, as the Manchester Monarchs came from behind to earn a 4-3 overtime victory over the Portland Pirates at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday afternoon. Right wing Sean Backman complemented Weal's hat trick by scoring a goal in overtime to clinch the win for the Monarchs. Left wing Lucas Lessio recorded his first hat trick of the season, scoring all three goals for the Pirates. Monarchs goaltender Patrik Bartosak (1-1-0) earned his first win of the season and of his professional career, stopping 29-of-32 shots in his first American Hockey League start. Pirates netminder Louis Domingue (9-14-2) took his 14th loss of the season, making 23 saves on 27 shots he faced in the game. Manchester was 1-for-6 on the power play. Portland also went 1-for-6 with the man advantage.

@ Worcester (4/6): Center Jordan Weal scored his fourth goal in two games to lift the Manchester Monarchs to a 5-2 victory over the Worcester Sharks at the DCU Center on Sunday afternoon. Defenseman Brayden McNabb collected two goals, and right wing Sean Backman and defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk joined Weal on the scoreboard for the Monarchs. Centers Freddie Hamilton and Travis Olesuk each tallied for the Sharks. Monarchs netminder Patrik Bartosak (2-1-0) earned his second consecutive win, stopping 30-of-32 shots. Sharks Harri Sateri (17-23-2) took his 23rd loss of the season with 38 saves on 41 shots. Manchester was 0-for-5 on the power play. Worcester also went 0-for-5 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Manchester Monarchs (45-19-2-6) are ranked first in the Atlantic Division with 98 points. The St. John's IceCaps (42-22-2-4) rank second in the division with 90 points. The Providence Bruins (38-23-2-8) sit in third place in the Atlantic Division with 86 points. The Worcester Sharks (34-31-4-2) are ranked fourth in the Atlantic Division with 74 points. The Portland Pirates (24-35-3-8) sit in fifth place in the division with 59 points.

The Monarchs rank 26th in the American Hockey League on the power play with 45 goals on 295 attempts. Manchester is ranked 20th in the league on the penalty kill stopping their opponent 250-of-309 times.

The Monarchs have had the most success on Saturdays (19-6-0-1).

The Monarchs were undefeated (6-0-0-0) at home in the month of March. Center Jordan Weal (22-45=67) leads the Monarchs with 45 assists and 67 points.

Weal is ranked fourth in the AHL with 45 assists.

Weal is tied for fifth place in the AHL with 67 points.

Weal ranks second on the Monarchs with 22 goals.

Weal, right wing Brian O'Neill (25-20=45), right wing Zach O'Brien (10-17'), and right wing Tyler Toffoli (15-8=23) are tied for first place on the Monarchs with four game-winning goals each.

Weal is also ranked second amongst forwards in the AHL with a plus/minus rating of plus-25 Weal recorded his first professional hat trick, collecting three goals in the Monarchs 4-3 overtime win over the Pirates on Saturday.

O'Neill (25-20=45) ranks second on the Monarchs with 45 points.

O'Neill leads the team with 25 goals this season.

O'Neill registered his first two professional hat tricks in consecutive weekends, collecting three goals in both the Monarchs 4-2 win over the Adirondack Phantoms on Friday, March 7 and in a 7-0 victory over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Friday, March 14.

O'Neill led all AHL skaters with 12 goals in the month of March.

O'Neill also ranks first amongst forwards in the AHL with a plus/minus rating of plus-29.

Center Linden Vey (12-32=44) ranks third on the Monarchs with 44 points.

Vey ranks second on the team with 32 assists.

Vey has also collected five assists in 18 games with the Los Angeles Kings this season. He was recalled to Los Angeles on Thursday, April 3.

Forward Nick Shore (14-23=37) ranks fourth on the Monarchs with 37 points.

Shore and left wing Andy Andreoff (10-23=33) are tied for fourth place on the team with 23 assists. Defenseman Brayden McNabb (9-25=34) is ranked fifth on the Monarchs with 34 points.

McNabb's 25 assists are third on the team.

Andreoff is ranked sixth on the Monarchs with 33 points.

Andreoff leads the Monarchs with 126 penalty minutes.

Left wing Tanner Pearson (17-15=32) is ranked seventh on the Monarchs with 32 points.

Pearson ranks third on the team with 17 goals this season.

Pearson has recorded three goals and three assists for six points in 24 games with the Kings this season. He was recalled to Los Angeles on Tuesday, February 18.

Defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk (8-20=28) is ranked eighth on the Monarchs with 28 points.

Bodnarchuk leads the Monarchs and the AHL with a plus/minus rating of plus-39. O'Brien ranks ninth on the Monarchs with 27 points this season.

O'Brien recorded his first four-point game of the season, collecting two goals and two assists against Bridgeport on Friday, March 14.

Right wing Sean Backman (10-16&) ranks 10th on the Monarchs with 26 points.

Right wing Scott Sabourin (10-14$) is ranked 11th on the team with 24 points.

Toffoli ranks 12th on the team with 23 points.

Toffoli has 12 goals and 17 assists for 29 points in 59 games with the Kings. He was recalled to Los Angeles on Tuesday, February 18.

Right wing James Livingston (7-14=21) is 13th on the Monarchs with 21 points this season.

Defenseman Vincent LoVerde (2-15=17), Colin Miller (5-12=17), and Derek Forbort (1-16=17) are tied for 14th place on the team with 17 points.

LoVerde ranks second on the Monarchs and third in the AHL with a plus-37 rating.

Defenseman Andrew Campbell (3-12=15) is the all-time games played leader in Monarchs history with 413 games played. He is the only player in franchise history to play in at least 400 games. Campbell was named the team's winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year award on Wednesday, April 2. Campbell is now one of 30 finalists for the AHL's 2013-14 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year.

Campbell was recalled by the Kings for the first time on Saturday, April 5. He made his National Hockey League debut with Los Angeles on Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks.

Center Colin Fraser (3-2=5) made his Monarchs debut against the Falcons on Friday, February 21. The veteran forward has played in 358 NHL games with the Kings, Edmonton Oilers, and Chicago Blackhawks, and has two Stanley Cup championships on his resume.

Fraser scored his first goal in a Monarchs uniform in a 5-4 victory over the Pirates on Saturday, February 22. The last AHL goal he scored was for the Rockford IceHogs when he collected a goal and two assists in the team's 5-3 win over the Iowa Stars on April 13, 2008.

Goaltender Martin Jones made his NHL debut with the Kings against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday, December 3. He backstopped the Kings to a 3-2 shootout victory, including going 9-for-9 in the shootout.

Jones picked up his first NHL shutout by stopping all 16 shots he faced in the Kings 3-0 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday, December 7.

The rookie netminder then stopped all 31 shots he faced in the Kings 6-0 shutout of the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, December 10.

In 18 games with the Kings, Jones has collected a record of 11-6-0, a .932 save percentage, a 1.91 goals-against-average, and three shutouts. He was recalled to Los Angeles on Monday, February 24. Jones' eight wins tied the NHL record for consecutive winning games to start an NHL career with netminder Bob Froese who won his first eight games with the Philadelphia Flyers during the 1982-83 season.

Jones is the first goaltender in NHL history to allow an average of less than one goal per game while winning the first eight appearances of his career. Jones is the third goaltender in NHL history to record three shutouts in his first six starts. Goaltender Flat Walsh accomplished the feat with the New York Americans during the 1928-29 season and netminder Frank Brimsek did it with the Boston Bruins during the 1938-39 season.

Jones has an overall record of 16-3-3 with a 2.13 goals-against-average, a .928 save percentage, and two shutouts in 22 games with the Monarchs this season.

Jones ranks in the top 10 all-time in the following Monarchs goaltending categories:

Games played - 158 - first place

Wins - 84 - first place

Losses - 57 - first place

Ties/Shootout Losses - 10 - second place

Goals-against-average - 2.42 - eighth place

Save percentage - .921 - tied for seventh place

Shutouts - 12 - third place

Saves - 4,280 - first place

Goaltender J.F. Berube registered a 14-8-2 record in 24 consecutive starts during Jones' first stint with the Kings.

Berube set a franchise record for consecutive appearances by a goaltender with 20 games on December 29. His current record-setting streak sits at 24 consecutive games. He surpassed the feat of 19 games set by netminders Travis Scott from February 19 - March 22, 2003, and Jason LaBarbera from November 19 - December 29, 2006.

Berube has collected a 26-16-2 record with a 2.44 goals-against-average and a .911 save percentage in 45 games with the Monarchs this season.

Berube is ranked fifth in the AHL with 2607:00 minutes played, tied for third place with 26 wins, and ranked 11th with a 2.44 goals-against- average this season.

Berube recorded his first AHL shutout by stopping all 28 shots he faced in the Monarchs 6-0 win over the IceCaps on Saturday, January 18. He recorded his second shutout by stopping all 23 shots he faced the 7-0 victory over Bridgeport on Friday, March 14. Berube was recalled by the Kings for the first time on February 7. He was reassigned to Manchester on Monday, February 24.

Monarchs Promotions

Fan Appreciation Night - The Monarchs are celebrating the best fans in the AHL when they host the Portland Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12.
