Rampage Sign Shayne Taker to ATO

SAN ANTONIO (April 7, 2014) - Florida Panthers Executive Vice President and General Manager Dale Tallon announced Monday that the San Antonio Rampage have signed defenseman Shayne Taker to an Amateur Tryout Contract.

Taker (pronounced Tacker) was one of three seniors who anchored the Notre Dame defense this season, tallying four goals and 14 assists in 40 games with the Irish. The 6-4, 208-pound Surrey, BC native completed his four-year collegiate career with eight goals and 39 assists in 152 games. The Irish were eliminated in the first round of the NCAA Tournament by a 4-3 overtime loss to St. Cloud State.

Prior to Notre Dame, Taker played two seasons of junior hockey for the Cowichan Valley Capitals of the British Columbia Hockey League where he recorded seven goals and 37 assists in 84 games.

The Rampage travel up I-35 on Friday night for the first game of a three-in-three series with Texas. San Antonio will host the Stars on Saturday and Sunday at the AT&T Center.
