February 25, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL)
San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (February 25, 2013) - The San Antonio Rampage will honor the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country with their 10th annual Military Appreciation Night, sponsored by Champion A.C., on Saturday, March 2. The team will wear specially designed camouflage jerseys when they take on the Chicago Wolves at 7:00 p.m. at AT&T Center.
The team's military-themed, camouflage jerseys will be auctioned off following the game with proceeds benefiting Operation Comfort and the Rampage Sled Hockey Team. The Rampage have raised more than $200,000 to benefit San Antonio's military community in the past nine years.
The Rampage and the Rampage Sled Hockey Team, which was the first team to form that consists of all wounded military service members, will partner up for a sled hockey clinic on Thursday afternoon at Northwoods Ice Center. Following the Rampage practice at 11:15 a.m., several members of the team will get on sleds and learn the ins and outs of the game from members of the two-time defending Midwest Sled Hockey League Champions. Media is also invited to give sled hockey a shot on Thursday morning.
In addition, the Rampage Sled Hockey Team will be recognized during a special pre-game ceremony on Saturday. The Rampage Sled Hockey Team is run by Operation Comfort, a nonprofit organization that works with wounded Service Members coming from Iraq and Afghanistan who are recovering at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, Texas. The team features three U.S. National Sled Hockey Team members - Rico Roman, Josh Sweeney and Jen Yung Lee.
The Rampage are offering military service members, including veterans, a special 50 percent discount on tickets purchased on game day from the AT&T Center Box Office when they show a valid Military ID.
Tickets for Military Appreciation Night, and all remaining Rampage home games, start at $10 and can be purchased at the AT&T Center Southeast Box Office, by calling a Rampage representative at 210.444.5554 or online at sarampage.com.
