Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons announced on Monday that forward Sean Collins has been assigned to the club by its NHL affiliate, the Columbus Blue Jackets. Additionally, the Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Cody Goloubef from the Falcons.
Collins, a rookie from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, recently made his NHL debut with the Blue Jackets after earning his initial recall to Columbus on Feb. 17, going scoreless with a -1 mark in two games. The 24-year-old has six goals and nine assists for 15 points in 46 games with Springfield this season while checking in at +6.
In 54 AHL appearances, Collins has compiled 20 points (7g-13a). He was drafted by the Blue Jackets in the seventh round (187th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Goloubef has 11 points (5g-6a) and is +7 in 24 games with the Falcons this season. The third-year pro will make his second trip to Columbus in 2012-2013 after scoring his first NHL goal and collecting a +1 rating over five games with the Blue Jackets earlier this month.
A native of Oakville, Ontario, Goloubef has accumulated 40 points (11g-29a) in 122 AHL contests and has one goal in six-career NHL games. Goloubef, 23, was selected by Columbus in the second round (37th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
The Falcons return to the MassMutual Center to host Adirondack this Friday, concluding their suspended Feb. 17 contest at 6:05 p.m. before playing a full-game versus the Phantoms at 7:30 p.m. Springfield welcomes Providence to The Nest on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and finishes its home three-in-three on Sunday, taking on the Sharks at 3:00 p.m.
