Adirondack Phantoms News Release

The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that they have traded Mike Testwuide (F) to the Calgary Flames organization in exchange for Mitch Wahl (F) who has been assigned to the Adirondack Phantoms, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.

In a separate transaction, the Phantoms have announced that Andrew Johnston (C) has been reassigned to the Trenton Titans (ECHL) by the Philadelphia Flyers.

Mitch Wahl was a 2nd round selection (#48 overall) of the Calgary Flames in 2008 out of the Spokane Chiefs in the Western Hockey League.

This season, Wahl has been one of the top scorers in the ECHL playing for the Utah Grizzlies. His 40 assists are 4th in the league and his 59 points are currently 5th. He has 19 goals this year with Utah and scored 20 goals there last season. Wahl has also played in six games with Abbotsford (AHL) this season scoring one goal.

The 23-year-old (Jan 22, 1990) from Seal Beach, California is in his third season of professional hockey and has played in a combined 54 career AHL games with the Abbotsford Heat and Hamilton Bulldogs scoring 5 goals and 10 assists for 15 points.

Wahl played for Team USA at the 2009 World Juniors Championships in Ottawa recording four points in the tournament.

Wahl had 96 points with Spokane in 2008-09 finishing 7th in the league including 66 assists which was 3rd. He was also named as a WHL First-Team All-Star that year. Among the other top scorers in the WHL that year were Shane Harper (42 goals was 6th) and Brayden Schenn who was 4th in points with 99. He won the WHL and Memorial Cup with Spokane in 2007-08.

Wahl becomes the fourth California native on the Adirondack Phantoms joining Shane Harper, Matt Konan and Matthew Ford.

The Phantoms wish all the best for Mike Testwuide and his future in the Flames organization. The Vail, Colo. native completes his tenure with the Adirondack Phantoms among the all-time leaders in several categories. In his third season of professional hockey out of Colorado College, Testwuide is 4th all-time in games played for the Adirondack Phantoms (161), 3rd all-time in career goals (32), 6th in career assists (38) and points (70), and 10th in penalty minutes (168).

Testwuide has two goals in 19 games this season. He led all Adirondack rookies in 2010-11 with 18 goals and finished 3rd on the team overall. His 39 points that season were 4th on the team.

One of Mike Testwuide's career highlights came on April 1, 2011 in the Glens Falls Civic Center when he recorded his first professional hat trick during a wild 9-5 victory over the Albany Devils. After completing the hat trick, he slammed and leaped into the end-boards and then was showered with promotional green foam-fingers by the fans.

Testwuide scored an overtime game-winning goal against the Albany Devils in the team's traditional New Year's Eve game on December 31, 2011 and drew even more attention when he went into his Tim Tebow Pose on the ice as part of his celebration.

Andrew Johnston is a rookie from Saskatoon, Sask. who has played in 29 games with Adirondack scoring 2 goals and 3 assists. He had an earlier stint with the Trenton Titans this year in which he played in 8 games and scored 1 goal.
