San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 15, 2008) - Fire and ice collide when the San Antonio Rampage honor the local firefighters and law enforcement officers at their 4th Annual Salute to the Badges Night this Friday when they host the Hamilton Bulldogs at the AT&T Center at 7 p.m.
The event is a joint effort between the fire and law enforcement departments to raise money and awareness for the Alamo Area Fire and Police Memorial (AAFPM). The Rampage will wear specially designed jerseys that will be auctioned off to the public following the game.
The Rampage jerseys feature the Rampage bull head wearing a fire-fighters hat on the chest of the jersey. There is a Rampage bullhead wearing a police hat on one shoulder and a Sheriff's hat on the other, while the sleeves feature a navy blue and gold stripe.
The AAFPM is dedicated to building a memorial, planned for the corner of Alamo and Market Streets, in memory of local servants that gave their lives for Bexar County. The memorial will feature names of both full-time and volunteer firefighters and law enforcement officials that have died in the line of duty. The Rampage have raised $42,625 over the last three years for the AAFPM, including $13,250 from last year's auction.
According to the AAFPM, 75 law enforcement officers and 24 firefighters from 18 departments have died in the line of duty in Bexar County. More information about the AAFPM can be found on their website at www.aafpm.com.
Tickets are available and can be purchased at the AT&T Center Box Office, by calling the Rampage at (210) 444-5554, or by visiting the team's website at www.sarampage.com.
