
WWE Diva "Maria" to Appear Tuesday, February

Peoria, Ill. (January 15, 2008) - Peoria Rivermen President Bart Rogers announced today, in conjunction with Comcast Spotlight, that WWE RAW Superstar and Diva "Maria" will appear on Tuesday, February 5, when the Rivermen host the Manitoba Moose. "Maria" will sign autographs on the main concourse from 6-8:00 PM.
"With Jackson from Disney's Hannah Montana appearing a week from Saturday and now Comcast Spotlight stepping up to bring in another WWE Diva, this is an excellent kick start to our promotional calendar for the busiest and most prosperous part of our season," Rogers said. "Comcast Spotlight has been a tremendous partner of ours through the strong commitments they have made to assist us in bringing in these top-notch promotional celebrities.
"Before the week is out, we will have another major promotional announcement, in addition a few more in the coming week," Rogers added.
"These types of promotional appearances really are a great fit for Comcast with our broad depth of channel offerings and our desire to partner in exciting, effective and involved community events," said John Niebur, Comcast District Director.
"Maria" is an Ottawa, Ill., native and attended Northern Illinois University in Dekalb. The 25-year-old hosts WWE's Kiss Cam during RAW, and can be seen (or read, actually) lending her auto expertise to our fans in her own WWE Magazine column every month. Maria, who began modeling at the age of 15 and was also a Hawaiian Tropic Girl earlier in her career, participated in the 2004 WWE RAW DivaSearch Contest, which was ultimately won by Christy Hemme; "Maria" was later signed as a backstage interviewer.
The Rivermen host the San Antonio Rampage on Tuesday, January 22 at 7:00 PM. It's a Nesquik "Two for Tuesday," on which fans receive Buy One, Get One Free Upper Bowl Ticket offer by presenting a blue Nesquik cap or UPC at the Peoria Civic Center Box Office prior to the game. On Saturday, January 26, Kitchen Cooked Potato Chips presents Hannah Montana star 'Jackson,' Jason Earles, from the Disney Channel, who will appear and sign autographs from 6-8:30 PM. It is co-partnered by 97.3 RiverCountry, Comcast and Journal Star E-Z Pay. The first 5,000 fans will receive a Rivermen collectors', commemorative Team Photo, as part of Caterpillar Night, and it is Meliss' Beauty & Grooming Source "Haircuts of Charity" to benefit Children's Hospital of Illinois.
