Peoria Rivermen News Release

Jean-Guy Trudel set up the first three Peoria goals and Mike Glumac and Nikolay Lemtyugov each scored twice as the Rivermen downed the Bulldogs in Hamilton Tuesday night by a 7-2 score.

Corey Locke opened the scoring at 11:50 of the first period, using the space given on the left wing with Hamilton on a three-on-one break, beating Hannu Toivonen over the left shoulder to make it 1-0.

Peoria retaliated when Nicholas Drazenovic roofed a wrist shot over the right shoulder of Carey Price at 14:47, with Jean-Guy Trudel the lone assist on the marker.

Trudel once again played setup man as he fed Martin Kariya in front of the Bulldogs' net on the power play, and Kariya's backhand found a way between the pads of Price to give the Rivermen a 2-1 lead at intermission.

Mike Glumac drove home his own rebound with a backhanded power play marker at 5:54 to kick off a three-goal second period for Peoria. Trudel notched his third assist on the night in setting up the score.

Late in the frame, Peoria scored twice within 13 seconds, starting with Nikolay Lemtyugov's slam-dunk goal at the side of the Hamilton goal at 18:01. On the subsequent faceoff, Peoria sent the puck down the ice and as Price tried to play it ahead, he tangled with his own defender resulting in a turnover to Jeff Woywitka who fired it back past the stunned netminder at 18:14.

Lemtyugov made it a 6-1 game when he took a Julian Talbot backhand feed while cruising down the slot, netting a wrister past the right pad of Price at 11:52. After Matt D'Agonstini posted his 11th of the year to make it 6-2, Glumac finished the scoring with a power play marker at 19:48, Peoria's third man-advantage goal of the game.

Toivonen earned the win with 21 saves while Price took the loss, stopping 24-of-31 shots. Peoria finished the game 3-for-6 on the power play while turning aside all six attempts against by Hamilton.

Peoria will now head out to Winnipeg to battle the Manitoba Moose on Thursday and Friday at 7:30 pm CST as the longest road trip of the year continues, with radio and internet coverage beginning with the pre-game show on your Home for Rivermen Hockey, 96.5 ESPN RADIO.
