Durno's Buzzer-Beater Lifts Rampage over Manitoba, 3-2

San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - Buzzer-beaters may be common in basketball, but they are virtually unheard of in the hockey world. But with the way Chris Durno is going right now, nothing seems impossible.

Durno scored with 0.02 seconds left on the clock to give the San Antonio Rampage an exhilarating 3-2 victory over the Manitoba Moose Tuesday night at the AT&T Center. With the loss, Manitoba went winless on their four-game Texas road trip.

With Manitoba on the power play, Ryan Caldwell cleared the puck the length of the ice with the clock ticking down. Manitoba netminder Drew MacIntyre whiffed on the bouncing puck as it rolled along the board behind the net. Durno took advantage, grabbing the puck and wrapping it around the net past a diving MacIntyre, beating the buzzer by a blink of an eye.

Durno's marker was his second consecutive short-handed goal, a franchise record for most in a single season (four), and third game-winner in four games. The left winger extended his goal streak to a team-high four games-all of which have either tied the game or given his club the lead-and his point streak to six.

Matt Murley scored the first of the two opening-period goals for his team-leading 32nd point. Bill Thomas followed with a deflected shot stretching his point streak to three games to give San Antonio a 2-0 lead.

Manitoba responded with a goal later in the period, and then squared things up with a power-play wrister from Mason Raymond.

Rampage netminder Josh Tordjman won his fourth straight game, making 18 stoppers along the way as the team moved a season-high 10 games over the .500 mark. The Rampage remain unbeaten against opponents outside of their West Division (5-0-1-0).

Hamilton, another non-West Division opponent, comes to the AT&T Center Friday night as the Rampage honor their local fire and law enforcement departments with their 4th Annual Salute to the Badges Night. The puck will drop at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.
