Rampage sign Kolnik to AHL contract

SAN ANTONIO – Oct. 14, 2004 – San Antonio Rampage Director of Hockey Operations Matt Loughran announced today that the club has signed right wing Juraj Kolnik (YEW-igh KOHL-nihk) to an American Hockey League (AHL) contract for the 2004-05 season.

Kolnik, 23, recorded 16 points (2-14=16) in the first 15 games last season before finishing the remainder of the season with the Panthers (recalled to Florida on Nov. 21, 2003). At the time of his recall, Kolnik led the AHL with 14 assists and ranked second on the Rampage in points. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound forward collected 25 points (14-11=25) in 53 games with Florida.

During his career, Kolnik has played in 99 NHL contests with Florida (2002-04) and the New York Islanders (2000-02) recording 35 points (20-15=35). He also has played 201 AHL games with Lowell (2000-01), Springfield (2000-01), Bridgeport (2001-02) and San Antonio (2003-04) compiling 147 points (65-85=147). The Nitra, Slovakia, native was originally drafted by the Islanders with their seventh choice (101st overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
