
Bears and abc27 team up to televise three games in 2004-05

HERSHEY â The HERSHEY BEARS and WHTM-TV (abc27) announced today a partnership for 2004-05 that will broadcast three games on the local ABC affiliate. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst and WHTM-TV President/GM Joe Lewin.
The agreement will provide live coverage of three games from GIANT Center beginning on Saturday, December 18 when the BEARS host the Manchester Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. The second game of the package will take place on Saturday, January 29, 2005 when HERSHEY will face-off with the Hartford Wolf-Pack at 7:00 p.m. The third and final game of the broadcast package will occur when the rival Philadelphia Phantoms play at GIANT Center on Saturday March 26, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. BEARS play-by-play broadcaster John Walton will handle play-by-play duties for all three games while abc27 sports anchor Gregg Mace will host the telecasts and provide color commentary throughout.
"We welcome the opportunity to again bring the action of BEARS hockey into the living rooms of our fans in central Pennsylvania," said John Walton. "Our agreement with abc27 gives our players and our team greater exposure and gives our fans another way to be a part of the action."
The BEARS open the 2004-05 season on Friday, October 15 at Norfolk before opening the home schedule the following night on Saturday, October 16.
