San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (April 9, 2013) - San Antonio Rampage General Manager Mike Santos announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed goaltender Dov Grumet-Morris to a one-year contract extension. With the extension, the Rampage netminder will return to the Alamo City for a third season.
Grumet-Morris, 31, owns a 12-18-4 record this year, along with a 2.98 goals-against average and a 0.910 save percentage. Grumet-Morris has started 33 games for the Rampage this season and has faced at least 30 shots in 20 of those starts. In addition, Grumet-Morris has surrendered three or fewer goals in 22 of his 33 starts on the year. The 6-foot-2, 198-pound goaltender has stepped into the starting duties down the stretch of the season and has manned the crease in 15 of the team's last 18 games dating back to Feb. 22.
Last season, in his first year with the Rampage, Grumet-Morris played in 19-straight games (12-6-1) to help the club to their third playoff berth in franchise history. In that span, the netminder posted a seven-game winning streak, which marked a franchise high. Grumet-Morris finished last season with a 19-13-1 record, a 2.33 goals-against average and a 0.921 save percentage.
Grumet-Morris was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the fifth round (161st overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. The netminder played for seven teams between the AHL and the ECHL in the course of three seasons before going overseas to play two years in Austria (2008-10). Grumet-Morris returned to North America and split a season between the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL) and Greenville Road Warriors (ECHL) in the 2010-11 season.
The Rampage will travel to Houston for a two-game series on Thursday and Saturday in the team's final two road games of the year. Puck drop for both contests against the Aeros is 7:05 p.m. The Silver and Black will return home on Sunday for a 3:30 p.m. tilt against the Texas Stars in the final Express-News Sunday Funday of the year. Tickets for all remaining Rampage home games start at $10 and can be purchased at the AT&T Center Southeast Box Office, by calling a Rampage representative at 210-444-5554 or online at sarampage.com.
