Chaput, Goloubef Assigned To Falcons

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons announced on Tuesday that forward Michael Chaput and defenseman Cody Goloubef have been assigned to the club by its NHL affiliate, the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Chaput, a rookie who celebrates his 21st birthday today, was recalled by Columbus on Monday but did not participate in game action with the Blue Jackets. He leads Springfield first-year skaters in 2012-13 with 28 points (11g-17a) in 67 games. Chaput contributed a goal and an assist in the Falcons' 7-1 victory in Worcester on Saturday. A native of Montreal, Quebec, Chaput paced all AHL rookies in January with 12 points (4g-8a). Chaput was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the third round (89th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Goloubef was recalled by Columbus on Saturday and skated for the Blue Jackets in their 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Wild . A third-year pro, Goloubef has one goal in 12 games with the Blue Jackets and has 12 points (5g-7a) in 32 contests with the Falcons in 2012-13. Goloubef, a 23-year-old from Oakville, Ontario has accumulated 42 points (12g-30a) in 130 AHL contests and has one goal in 12-career NHL games. He was selected by Columbus in the second round (37th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

The Falcons clinched a spot in the 2013 Calder Cup Playoffs and won the F.G. (Teddy) Oke Trophy as the Northeast Division champions this past weekend. Springfield heads to Adirondack on Friday before returning home for its final two home games of the regular season this Saturday and Sunday, hosting Providence and Connecticut at the MassMutual Center in an event-filled Fan Appreciation Weekend.
