Albany Devils News Release
ALBANY, NY -- The Albany Devils and their fans will celebrate the Armed Services on Saturday, April 13 during "Military Appreciation Night." All active and retired service members will receive free admission to the game by showing proper identification at the Times Union Center box office.
"Military Appreciation Night has become one of our signature events that the organization and our fans look forward to each year," said Albany Devils CEO Chris Ciceri. "We've had the privilege to meet many service members throughout the years and their commitment to our nation is extremely inspiring. An event like Saturday's is the very least we can do to show our gratitude."
The festivities begin at 3 pm on South Pearl St. with the DLG Wealth Management Pre-Game Block Party with music by WGNA Radio. Dinosaur Barbeque will provide free food to all military personnel (an additional charge for civilians). Representatives from each military branch will be on hand with interactive information and fans can explore military vehicles up close.
The first 1,000 fans through the turnstiles will receive American flags, courtesy of Gettysburg Flag Works. Puck drop between the Devils and the Binghamton Senators is slated for 5 pm.
After the game, H&V Collision, the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany, GEICO, Dupont and Enterprise Rent-a-Car, will donate three refurbished vehicles to military veterans and their families.
"Our veterans have given so much to defend our freedom and way of life," said H&V Collision's Vartan Jerian Jr. "H&V and our partners are proud and honored to be able to have the ability to provide assistance to some deserving military veterans and their families."
The vehicles are late model cars donated to H&V Collision and then repaired and improved to almost-new standards.
