Griffins Add Nedomlel and Paterson

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins on Tuesday signed defenseman Richard Nedomlel (NEE-duhm-ehl) and goaltender Jake Paterson to amateur tryouts.

Nedomlel, 19, appeared in 72 games with the WHL's Swift Current Broncos this season, tallying 28 points (7-21-28). The 6-foot-5, 231-pound defenseman placed 10th overall and second among his team's defensemen in scoring and also ranked second with 105 penalty minutes. In 210 career WHL contests, the Prague, Czech Republic, native has registered 84 points (17-67-84) and 295 penalty minutes. Nedomlel was Detroit's eighth choice (175th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Paterson, 18, posted a 25-21-2 record, a 3.53 goals against average, a 0.901 save percentage and one shutout in 50 contests with the OHL's Saginaw Spirit this season. A third-round pick (80th overall) of Detroit in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, the Mississauga, Ontario, native sports a 46-41-5 record, a 3.45 GAA and a 0.903 save percentage in 97 career OHL games. The 6-foot-1, 183-pound netminder also represented Canada at the 2013 World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia, but he did not appear in game action.

The Griffins will open their final homestand of the regular season this week with three home games in four nights. Grand Rapids will host Chicago on Wednesday, Milwaukee on Friday and Peoria on Saturday. All games will start at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at griffinshockey.com.
