Rampage receive Leavitt on loan from Houston

SAN ANTONIO (Mar. 2, 2007) - The San Antonio Rampage announced today that the Houston Aeros have loaned center Alex Leavitt to the Rampage.

Leavitt, 23, was the ECHL's Rookie of the Year last season, becoming the first rookie in 15 seasons and third in ECHL history to lead the league in scoring while helping the Alaska Aces to the 2006 Kelly Cup title.

Selected to both the All-ECHL First-Team and All-Rookie Team last year, Leavitt has registered 11 points (two goals, nine assists) in 23 games with Houston this season. In addition, the Edmonton, Alberta native has scored 24 points (10 goals, 14 points) in 30 games since being assigned to the Aeros' ECHL affiliate, the Texas Wildcatters, on Dec. 27.

Leavitt finished the 2005-06 season atop the ECHL with 65 assists and 91 points after playing in all 72 regular-season games with Alaska. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound forward helped the Aces capture the ECHL's Kelly Cup with 13 points (goal, 12 assists) in 16 post-season games.

Leavitt played two seasons (2001-03) at the University of Wisconsin, compiling 39 points (13 goals, 26 assists) in 67 games before spending two junior seasons (2003-05) in the Western Hockey League. He posted 120 points (43 goals, 77 assists) in 135 games with the WHL's Swift Current Broncos and Everett Silvertips.
