LOWELL, Mass. - Colin Fraser scored the go-ahead goal in the third period to lift the Norfolk Admirals (40-17-4-1) to a 3-2 victory over the Lowell Devils (29-24-5-2) Friday night at Tsongas Arena.

The teams exchanged goals in the first period, with Troy Brouwer putting the Admirals up 1-0 at 5:21. The power play goal served as the 29th of the season for Brouwer. Lowell answered with a power play goal of their own with just 60 seconds left in the period. Mike Pandolfo scored his second of the season, redirecting an Olli Malmivaara shot past Norfolk G Mike Brodeur to even the score after one.

In the second, both Brodeur and Devils G Frank Doyle had to work. Norfolk outshot the Devils 18-13, but only two goals were scored in the frame. Dustin Byfuglien notched his 14th of the season at 10:50 to regain the lead for the Admirals. The goal put Byfuglien in a tie for the AHL lead in goals by a defenseman. They nearly escaped the period with the lead, but Ryan Murphy cashed in on a goalmouth scrambled, sending the puck trickling over the goal line with just a second left to play in the stanza.

Norfolk took the lead for good during the third period, with the 12th of the season for Fraser, who was selected the first star of the game. Brodeur did the rest, stopping each of the Devils 12 shots to hold back the Lowell attack. Doyle made 37 saves in net for the Devils in suffering the loss, while 76 total shots were fired in the game.

The Devils remain at home for Saturday night, when they host the Providence Bruins. Game time is 7:05 p.m. All Devils games, home and away, can be heard on WCAP 980AM with the Voice of the Devils, Ryan Johnston, or online through B2 Networks on www.lowelldevilshockey.com.
