Moose Visit 17 Wing as part of Military Tribute Night

The Manitoba Moose visited 17 Wing Winnipeg yesterday afternoon for a tour of the facilities and equipment as part of their salute to the Canadian Military and its soldiers. This acknowledgment will continue on Saturday, March 10th when the Moose take on the Iowa Stars at the MTS Centre at 7:30 p.m. as part of "Military Tribute Night"

Many special events will take place around the game on Saturday, March 10th. The Moose will wear a special military camouflage jersey featuring a yellow ribbon on the shoulder and a special crest located on the back with the names of the 45 fallen Canadian soldiers in the war in Afghanistan.

There will be a special pre-game ceremony to honor all of the fallen soldiers in Afghanistan, including a demonstration by the Military rappel team, the Canadian Armed Forces Flag Party, and pipers performing Amazing Grace.

The Air Command Band will entertain fans as they enter the MTS Centre at the corner of Portage & Donald entrance. They will also perform the Canadian National Anthem. Event staff at the MTS Centre will hand out 8,800 Thunder Sticks to fans as they enter, and a special, limited edition Moose/Military poster will be handed out as fans leave.

Fans are encouraged to wear red and white to show support for the Canadian troops. They can also bring a Tin-for-the-Bin in support of Winnipeg Harvest.
