San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage (5-6-0-0) fell to the Toronto Marlies (5-5-0-0) 3-2 in front of 6,231 at the AT&T Center on Friday night. The Rampage held a 2-1 lead into the third period, but the Marlies tallied two goals in less than two minutes to take the win.

Shane O'Brien notched his third marker of the season, and Andrew Yogan scored his first goal in a Rampage uniform after being recalled from the Cincinnati Cyclones on Tuesday.

The Rampage offense struck early as O'Brien's blast from point beat Christopher Gibson to give San Antonio an early 1-0 lead. Scored just 2:06 into the first period, the goal marked the fastest score by San Antonio to start a game this season. Just minutes later, Toronto converted on a 5-on-3 opportunity when Trevor Smith scored to tie the game at one.

Nearing the midway point of the second period, Yogan picked up a rebound on Ryan Martindale's shot from long range and punched it past Gibson to give San Antonio a 2-1 lead heading into the second intermission. Within the first 20 seconds of the third period, Mark Mancari was awarded with a penalty shot after being hooked from behind on a break, but his shot was turned away by Gibson. Toronto got two quick goals during a 4-on-4 situation in the third period. Tom Nilsson took a pass from Viktor Loov off a faceoff and scored to tie the game at two, and Connor Brown scored less than two minutes later to give the Marlies their first lead of the game and ultimately the win.

The Rampage finished with one goal on five power play opportunities while holding the Marlies to a goal on five chances with the man advantage. Dan Ellis made 23 saves on 26 shots. LINEUP NOTES The shuffling of the Rampage lines continued with Brett Olson moving up to San Antonio's top line, centering Garrett Wilson and Bobby Butler. Vincent Trocheck, now with Florida, started in that position this season, and Ryan Martindale held the spot for the Rampage's games last week. Joe Basaraba, who was recalled from Cincinnati on Nov. 2, made his AHL debut, playing alongside Martindale and Andrew Yogan, who was recalled from the Cyclones on Tuesday. KEY STAT The Rampage outshot their opponent for the 10th time in 11 games. The Silver and Black finished with a 42-26 advantage in shots.

With the second assist on O'Brien's first-period tally, Brett Olson now has seven points in the last six games.
