Megna Leads Penguins Comeback against Bears

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Jayson Megna capped off a stunning Pens' comeback, scoring an extra attacker goal with less than a minute remaining to force overtime, then tallying just 61 seconds into the extra frame to give the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins a 3-2 overtime win against the Hershey Bears Friday night at Mohegan Sun Arena.
With the win the Pens (6-5-1-0, 13 points) moved into a tie for first place in the East Division with the Bears (6-4-1-0, 13 points), who are now winless in their last three games.
The Pens were held scoreless through the first two periods, but a late third period surge sparked the comeback.
Taylor Chorney got things moving for the Pens with a great individual effort, powering down the right side of the ice and beating Hershey goaltender Phillip Grubauer at the 9:33 mark of the third. The goal was Chorney's first of the season.
Chorney figured in on the game-tying goal as well, rifling a shot from the point that Megna redirected in to tie the game at the 19:12 mark. That goal came with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton netminder Matt Murray pulled for an extra attacker.
Megna then closed out the evening, taking a quick feed from defenseman Derrick Pouliot in front of the Hershey net and slamming home his second of the night and fourth of the season to give the Pens the victory.
After a scoreless first period, it took Hershey only 90 seconds of play in the second to break the deadlock. Jon Landry fired a shot from top of the circle past Penguins Murray for his first of the year.
Later in the period, Casey Wellman netted his seventh goal of the season after the Pens failed to clear their own zone to give the visitors the 2-0 advantage.
Murray ended the night with 14 saves, while Grubauer turned aside 31 Penguins shots in defeat.
After a short trip to Binghamton on Saturday night, the Pens return home to host the Syracuse Crunch on Sunday afternoon at 4:05pm.
Individual tickets for all Penguins home games are available at the Mohegan Sun Arena Box Office, online at TicketMaster.com, or by calling 800-745-3000.
