San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (January 22, 2010) - The San Antonio Rampage, in conjunction with the American Hockey League and its coaches, today announced a league-wide initiative designed to raise funds and awareness in the wake of the devastating earthquake and aftershocks that have struck Haiti.
"Watching the devastation on TV really puts everything else in perspective," said San Antonio Rampage head coach Ray Edwards. "Any amount that we can give goes a long way and I am happy to join the other coaches in the league to raise funds and provide relief to the victims in Haiti. "
At games throughout the AHL for the rest of the month, the league's head coaches will be calling on fans through video board messages to make donations to help the relief efforts via the American and Canadian Red Cross' text-to-donate campaigns, as well as individual team fundraisers.
"Our head coaches have come together from across the league to take on this important initiative," said AHL President and CEO David Andrews. "With more than 400,000 fans expected to be in attendance at games over the next two weeks, we have a terrific opportunity to make a much-needed contribution to the cause."
You can help the victims of the earthquake in Haiti, as well as other crises around the world, by making a financial gift to the American Red Cross International Response Fund or the Canadian Red Cross Haiti Earthquake Fund, which provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.
