Wolves Push Win Streak To Seven Games

MILWAUKEE---The Chicago Wolves took an early 2-0 lead in the first period and then answered a Milwaukee tally with four unanswered goals as they brought their season-high winning streak to seven games with a 6-3 win over the Milwaukee Admirals at the Bradley Center Friday night.
Right wing Tim Stapleton (G, 2A) and left wing Brett Sterling (3A) led the way for Chicago (25-16-0-2) with three points apiece, while right wing Joey Crabb and center Johnny Pohl each added a goal and assist as well.
Stapleton gave Chicago a 1-0 lead just nine seconds into the game, which was the fastest goal to start a game in franchise history. Crabb sent a pass from the boards into the crease before Stapleton redirected it past Admirals netminder Mark Dekanich.
Pohl upped the Wolves lead to two with a power-play tally at 3:27 of the first period. Stapleton took a shot from the slot and Pohl picked up the rebound and backhanded a shot at Dekanich. Dekanich made a second stop, but Pohl turned around and was able to knock the puck in for the 2-0 lead.
Milwaukee (24-14-1-5) broke onto the scoreboard with three minutes to play in the opening stanza. With three Admirals screening Wolves goaltender Drew MacIntyre in front of the net, defenseman Jonathan Blum took a shot from the point and center Mike Santorelli redirected the shot past MacIntyre on the far side.
MacIntyre (12-11-1) thwarted 23 of the 26 shots he faced to pick up his fourth-straight win.
The Wolves regained their two-goal lead 23 seconds into the middle frame. Center Matt Anderson passed the puck off to Crabb who skated over to the slot and sent a wrist shot through traffic that found its way past Dekanich, stick-side.
Dekanich (14-8-3) posted 28 saves in the losing effort.
Right wing Spencer Machacek lit the lamp to make the Wolves lead three at 10:34 of the second period. Machacek worked the puck off the boards and then wrapped around the back of the net and wristed a shot at Dekanich. Dekanich made the stop, but the rebound went back out to Machacek who buried his second chance off Dekanich's skate.
Defenseman Nathan Oystrick made the Wolves lead four when he added a marker of his own, on the power play, at 1:54 of the third period. Stapleton dropped back a pass to Sterling on the point. Sterling sent a pass across to Oystrick who ripped a shot from the point that blew past Dekanich, top-shelf, for the 5-1 lead.
Chicago extended its lead to 6-1 when defensemen Noah Welch ripped a shot from the point that rocketed off the crossbar and into the net at 9:24 of the third.
Milwaukee center Colin Wilson scored at 12:59 of the third period and right wing Hugh Jessiman scored 59 seconds later to brings the Admirals within three but MacIntyre shut the door the rest of the way for Chicago.
The Wolves continue their short two-game road trip when they take on the Peoria Rivermen at Carver Arena tomorrow, at 7:30 p.m.
