PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Tim Sestito's two-goal game and Jeff Frazee's 38 saves were enough to lead the Lowell Devils to a 4-1 win over the Providence Bruins on Friday at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
The Devils went ahead, 1-0, at 4:52 of the opening period as Providence's first power play expired. Louis Robitaille stepped out of the penalty box and tapped a pass to a streaking Sestito, who beat Dany Sabourin from the near circle.
Sestito gave Lowell a two-goal cushion with 5:03 before the second intermission as Nathan Perkovich sprung him behind the defense for a wrist shot to the top left corner of the net and his 14th goal of the season.
After a goaltender interference call on the Bruins at the end of the second period, the Devils would convert 43 seconds into the third when Brad Snetsinger redirected Matt Taormina's point shot inside the right iron.
Alexander Vasyunov made it a 4-0 Lowell lead with an unassisted breakaway goal at 8:33 of the third frame. That would end the night for Sabourin who finished with 22 saves on 26 shots.
Providence spoiled the potential shutout for Frazee as Jeff LoVecchio tipped in the Bruins' lone goal of the game with 1:08 left in regulation.
The Devils head to Portland to battle the Pirates on Saturday, January 23 at 7:00PM. Go online to ahllive.com to listen to all of the live Devils action. For more information on Devils home games, call (978) 458-PUCK (7825) or visit lowelldevilshockey.com.
