Marlies Sign Defenceman Ryan Stokes To PTO Contract

Jeff Jackson, General Manager of the Toronto Marlies, announced today that the club has signed defenceman Ryan Stokes to a professional try-out contract.

Stokes, 26, has skated in 32 games this season with the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL, tallying six goals and 12 assists for 18 points. The 6'4, 200-pound defenceman played in 10 games earlier this season in the AHL, appearing in games with the Providence Bruins and Grand Rapids Griffins.

The Sarnia, Ontario native has appeared in 239 career AHL contests over the past six seasons with the Houston Aeros, Rockford IceHogs, Providence Bruins and Grand Rapids Griffins. Stokes has recorded nine goals and 19 assists in his AHL career.

The Marlies end their eight-game road trip tonight with a matchup against the Grand Rapids Griffins, AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings, at 7:00 p.m. at Van Andel Arena.
