San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (December 31, 2010)- San Antonio Rampage right wing Petr Prucha scored the lone goal for the Rampage to extended his point streak to five games in a 4-1 loss to the Oklahoma City Barons on Friday Night at the AT&T Center.
Oklahoma City jumped on the board first, just 46 seconds after the initial puck drop, when Liam Reddox sent a centering feed to leading scorer Alexandre Giroux, who shot the puck to the high glove side of Rampage goaltender Matt Climie.
The Barons maintained their 1-0 lead through the second period as the Rampage outshot Oklahoma City 33-12 in the first 40 minutes of play.
Just under three minutes into the third frame, Giroux and Reddox linked up for the second time of the night to give the Barons a 2-0 advantage on the power play. Reddox's shot from the right faceoff circle was deflected by Climie's leg padding toward the left crease where Giroux was positioned to punch it home.
Oklahoma City extended their lead to 3-0 as Reddox fired a bullet from the left faceoff dot that flew past Climie into the lower right corner of the goal at the 7:29 mark of the final stanza.
Thirty nine seconds later, the Rampage converted on one of six power-play opportunities as Prucha tallied his seventh goal of the season when he received a cross-ice pass from Andrew Ebbett, skated in along the left side, and beat Barons netminder Martin Gerber high stick side. Maxim Goncharov added the second helper.
San Antonio head coach Ray Edwards pulled Climie in favor of a sixth attacker with 47 seconds remaining in the contest, however, Giroux scored on the empty net for his third goal of the night to seal the Barons victory at 4-1.
Gerber earned the first star of the game stopping 44 of 45 Rampage shots while Climie faced 23 Barons shot attempts. Giroux was awarded the second star of the game with his first hat trick of the season while Reddox posted a goal and two assists to earn the third star.
The Rampage continue their three-in-three series with a 7:35 p.m. matchup with the Aeros tomorrow night in Houston. San Antonio wraps up the series on Sunday with a 5 p.m. puck drop against the Milwaukee Admirals at the Bradley Center.
