Pirates Sign Bowers to PTO

PORTLAND, ME - The Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League announced today that they have signed forward Justin Bowers to a professional tryout.

This will be the second stint for Bowers this season, who was held pointless in three games earlier in the month. The 25 year-old Halifax, Nova Scotia native arrives from the Greenville Road Warriors where he collected 12 goals and 18 assists for 30 points in 28 games. His 30 points were tied for 10th in the ECHL scoring race.

The Pirates return to action tonight when they take on the Connecticut Whale for the second time this week in a special New Year's Eve matchup. It will be the annual Kid's New Year's Game presented by WGME 13 and WJBQ. The game will mark the 16th season the Pirates have celebrated New Year's featuring New England's largest indoor fireworks display at the conclusion of the game.
